Extended Events – Better than Profiler
Extended Events were introduced in SQL Server 2008. Each SQL Server release since has seen a significant upgrade to this feature. Join me for a little adventure into the realm of extended events. We will discuss how to use extended events to aid in performance tuning and in day to day administration. We will also explore some background and the architecture of extended events. This is a fast paced session and will be a lot of fun. Attendees will be able to take back several sample XE sessions to help troubleshoot different issues and get to more intimately know their data/environment.
Bio: As a Microsoft Certified Master/Microsoft Certified Solutions Master and Data Platform MVP, I have 20+ years of experience in the technology industry, including more than 10 with SQL Server. I also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems from Utah State University. One of the highlights of my career was co-authoring SQL Server 2012 T-SQL Recipes: A Problem-Solution Approach. I am a frequent presenter at SQL Server events worldwide, which includes SQLSaturdays and User Groups.
I love finding that magic turbo button to make queries go faster which ultimately leads to huge relief and satisfaction for the client. I have done that sort of work for clients of all sizes throughout the world. I have experience with multi-TB databases as well as environments with thousands of SQL Server instances to manage.
